Supreme Court verdict: Natasha urges aggrieved PDP leaders to reconcile

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has issued a call for unity and reconciliation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging aggrieved members to resolve internal disputes amicably. Her appeal comes in the wake of recent Supreme Court decisions that have stirred controversy and deepened divisions within the opposition party, particularly as Nigeria looks towards the 2027 general elections.

Akpoti-Uduaghan sought to clarify the implications of the Supreme Court's ruling, emphasizing that it specifically invalidated the party's Ibadan Convention. She cautioned against "propaganda" and misinformation that might distort the verdict's actual scope. The senator stressed that issues concerning the suspension of the party's National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, were not part of the Supreme Court's determination. She explained that Anyanwu's suspension had been a separate matter, initially affirmed by the Court of Appeal and subsequently lapsed, with the affected members later included in a caretaker committee.
