Surakarta Palace Honors Hendriyanto Attan With KRH Title

Hendriyanto Attan, a youth figure from Sumenep, has received an honorary title from Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace, formalizing his place among the palace’s honorary family.

The title Kanjeng Raden Haryo, or KRH, was established through Kakancingan No. 313/KS/08/26, issued by the palace administration. The document also awarded Attan the rank of Riya Nginggil, described as the highest and most honored position in the field of intelligence.

The appointment carries responsibilities beyond ceremony. The palace said the title reflects dedication, service and contributions aligned with the noble values of Javanese culture. It expects the recipient to preserve those values and protect the palace’s dignity in public life.

“Of course, this title is not merely an honor, but a responsibility to preserve values, serve society and continue the legacy of our ancestors in creating benefit,” Attan said. He is also an official of KAHMI.

The appointment document bears the signature of Sinoehoen Tedjowoelan and the official seal of Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. It is dated Aug. 31, 2026, corresponding to 17 Mulud in the Javanese calendar year Be 1960.

Attan was born in Sumenep, Madura, East Java, a region with a kraton history that included 35 rulers. The article also highlights Arya Wiraja, who became Sumenep’s first adipati on Oct. 31, 1269. He is remembered for strategic and advisory skills, for helping Raden Wijaya establish Majapahit and for helping drive Tartar forces from Java.
