Suspected chicken thief dies after alleged mob beating in Bali

A man identified by the initials KD has died in Tabanan, Bali, after allegedly being beaten by a mob. The incident occurred early Friday morning in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Desa Batunya, Baturiti District, when KD was reportedly apprehended by residents.

According to reports, KD was suspected of attempting to steal a chicken belonging to a local resident, I Wayan Adi Suteja, around 1:30 AM WITA. His alleged act was discovered by villagers who then collectively apprehended him. During the confrontation, KD is said to have been subjected to a mob beating, which tragically resulted in his death at the scene.

The Head of Public Relations Sub-division of the Bali Regional Police, AKBP Rina Isriana Dewi, stated on Saturday that the police are currently investigating the cause of the victim's death and the alleged criminal acts involved. Investigators are examining the full sequence of events, including the specific reasons for KD's demise.

The daughter of the deceased was reportedly heard crying out for her father during his funeral procession, adding a poignant human element to the tragic event. The police have not yet released further details regarding the identities of those involved in the alleged beating or the progress of their investigation.
