Tainan Temple Donates Festival Offerings to Aid Eight Vulnerable Groups

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Tainan's Daliao Xuanliang Temple is extending its traditional Ghost Festival offerings to support those in need. The temple, which venerates Jiutian Xuannü and Guanyin Bodhisattva, has decided to donate festival provisions valued at over NT$700,000 to eight charitable organizations in Tainan and Kaohsiung.

These provisions include essential food items such as rice, noodles, and canned goods, originally intended for the traditional Ghost Festival rituals. Following divine guidance, the temple has made a practice of distributing such resources to the less fortunate annually. This year's donation aims to provide tangible support to vulnerable families and individuals through the designated welfare groups.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che was present to witness the distribution and express his gratitude for the temple's benevolent actions. He highlighted the temple's consistent commitment to charity under the leadership of its chairperson, Chen Hsiu-li, emphasizing how these donations reach families requiring care and support.

This act of generosity is part of the temple's broader charitable initiatives throughout the year. Besides the Ghost Festival donations, the temple also contributes funds during Guanyin Bodhisattva's birthday and provides scholarships to outstanding students during the birthdays of Jiutian Xuannü and Yang Fu Tianshi, demonstrating a sustained commitment to community welfare and education.
