Taiwan High-Mountain Farms Announce Precautionary Closures Ahead of Typhoon Saudel

Cingjing Farm, along with Wuling and Fushoushan farms, will temporarily close starting at noon on August 26 as a precautionary measure against the approaching Typhoon Saudel. The closures are being implemented by the Veterans Affairs Council (VAC) due to forecasts predicting heavy rain and potential torrential downpours in the mountainous regions where the farms are located.

The decision aims to ensure the safety of visitors and staff by mitigating risks associated with severe weather, including potential road blockages and traffic hazards. The VAC has already initiated typhoon preparedness measures at the farms since August 24. The reopening of the farms will be assessed based on weather conditions and road safety.

For visitors with existing reservations, the VAC stated that farms will proactively contact them to suggest postponing their trips. Arrangements for cancellations or rescheduling will be facilitated. The VAC has also instructed its affiliated farms to cooperate fully with local government disaster response efforts, offering shelter and essential supplies if needed, and assisting surrounding communities.

Typhoon Saudel is expected to affect Taiwan starting August 26, bringing strong winds and significant rainfall, particularly in southern regions. The storm system, combined with a tropical depression, could lead to prolonged heavy downpours and potential flash floods in mountainous areas.
