Zhiben National Forest Recreation Area to reopen Tuesday; other Taitung forest areas remain closed

The Zhiben National Forest Recreation Area in Taitung is set to reopen on Tuesday, following a precautionary closure due to continuous heavy rainfall and strong southwestern winds. The Forestry and Conservation Agency's Taitung Branch conducted inspections and preparations on Monday, confirming the area's readiness to welcome visitors again.

However, nine other natural trails in the Taitung region will remain closed. These include the Jiaming Lake National Trail (including Xiangyang and Jiaming Lake mountain huts), the Antong Over-Ridge Ancient Trail's eastern section, Maloupo Trail, Dulan Mountain Trail, Liyu Mountain Trail, Green Island's Ameshan Trail, Green Island's Guanhai Trail, Dawu Guanhai Trail, and the eastern section of the Jinsuoying National Trail. These trails are still undergoing inspections, and their reopening dates will be announced later.

The Taitung Branch reminds the public that mountainous areas in Taitung currently have high soil moisture content, posing a risk of landslides. Visitors are strongly advised to monitor weather forecasts, assess current conditions, and check the latest road access information before planning any mountain activities.

Information regarding the reopening of forest recreation areas will be posted on the Taiwan Mountain Forest Leisure website and other relevant platforms. The agency urges caution and preparedness for anyone venturing into the region's natural landscapes.
