A Thai visitor claims to have been charged an astonishing 100,000 VND (approximately $4 USD) for a single ice cream, sparking outrage and prompting an official inquiry.

The tourist's account, widely shared on a popular local social media page, describes a situation where the vendor allegedly presented the ice cream without clearly stating the price, only to demand a significantly inflated sum. We were deceived on the first day in Nha Trang, when we arrived early at our accommodation and couldn't check in yet, then an ice cream vendor approached. We asked how much, she immediately gave us the ice cream without a clear answer. Then she took out a 100,000 VND note and pointed at it, only then did we understand the price was 100,000 VND (about 120 baht). We were shocked because it was too expensive!

While the tourist eventually settled for 50,000 VND after a dispute, the incident has prompted swift action from local authorities.
