Three arrested with drugs in Iztacalco; one linked to homicide in Iztapalapa

Mexico City authorities have arrested three men in the Iztacalco borough on drug possession charges. The arrests were made by officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) during a patrol in the Agrícola Oriental neighborhood.

Police observed the three individuals handling plastic bags and concealing them in a black bag. When they noticed the officers, the suspects attempted to flee but were intercepted. A subsequent search revealed a fanny pack containing 68 doses of marijuana and two mobile phones.

Of the three men, aged 33, 21, and 20, the 33-year-old is reportedly connected to a fatal shooting that took place on July 26 in the Iztapalapa borough. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was shot on Cerrada Canal de San Juan street and died the following day while hospitalized.

All three detainees have been transferred to a public prosecutor's office, where their legal status will be determined. The SSC is investigating the potential links between the arrested individuals and other criminal activities.
