Three injured in Bruges taxi-van collision; red light violation suspected

A serious traffic accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Bruges, resulting in three injuries. The collision, involving a taxi and a delivery van, took place at the intersection of Hoefijzerlaan and Gulden Vlieslaan. Emergency services were alerted around 1 AM to the incident, which saw the taxi strike the van in the flank, causing the van to overturn. Fortunately, none of the injured sustained life-threatening wounds and were able to exit the vehicles on their own before being transported to the hospital for further care. Initial police findings suggest the taxi driver may have disregarded a red light. Due to the medical attention required by those involved, it was not immediately possible to determine if any drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The accident led to a closure of the roadway for approximately one hour, impacting local traffic.
