Tinubu Renews Tenures of NTA DG, NAN MD for Three More Years

President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenures of the Director-General of the National Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali. Both officials will serve for an additional three-year term, commencing October 20, 2026. This renewal signifies a continuation of their leadership in Nigeria's public broadcasting and news dissemination sectors.

Dembos, originally appointed on October 20, 2023, has a long history with the NTA, having joined as an announcer in 1989. He rose through the ranks, holding various management positions, including General Manager at NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano, before retiring in 2017. His experience spans decades in public broadcasting.

Ali Mohammed Ali, also first appointed in October 2023, is a seasoned journalist and media manager with over 30 years of experience. His expertise includes media evolution and digital content development. He holds degrees in English, International Affairs, and Mass Communications, reflecting his academic background in the field.

President Tinubu has tasked the renewed leadership with justifying the confidence placed in them. He urged them to remain committed to their organizations' mandates and to actively promote the government's 'Renewed Hope Agenda.' This directive emphasizes the administration's expectation for these media executives to align their work with national development goals.
