In a significant operational success, troops in Nigeria's Borno State have captured a high-ranking financial operator for the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist group. The individual surrendered alongside two of his male children.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another major operational breakthrough with the surrender of a senior Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) finance operative, underscoring the sustained impact of ongoing kinetic and intelligence-driven operations across the North East.

The surrender took place on July 25, 2026, along a key supply route in Borno State. This development is attributed to the relentless kinetic and intelligence-driven operations conducted by the Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ (OPHK).

According to a press statement, the captured operative was responsible for managing the group's financial activities and logistics within the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram. His capture is seen as a major setback for ISWAP, indicating a weakening command structure and operational capability.

The terrorist surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion under 24 Task Force Brigade at about 6:45 a.m. on 25 July 2026 along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis on the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route.

This incident is part of a broader trend of increasing surrenders within terrorist ranks. In recent days, approximately 46 terrorists and their family members have laid down their arms, signaling growing disillusionment and pressure on terrorist strongholds.

Preliminary profiling indicates that the terrorist served as the Chief Finance Operative of the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram, where he was responsible for managing the group’s financial activities and logistics. He surrendered alongside two male children.

Items recovered from the surrendered operative include an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦40,000 in cash. He is currently undergoing interrogation to provide actionable intelligence that will aid ongoing military operations against remaining terrorist elements in the North East.
