Transport Minister to open new Smiltynė ferry terminal in Klaipėda

Lithuanian Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas is set to visit Klaipėda from July 23 to 25, with a key highlight being the inauguration of the new Smiltynė ferry terminal. This project represents a significant investment, costing 13.8 million euros excluding VAT, and involves the modernization of the passenger station and transport infrastructure, creating a new public space for residents and visitors.

During his visit, Minister Taminskas will also pay tribute to the maritime community by attending a ceremony at the "Albatros" monument in Smiltynė. Esteemed representatives of the maritime sector will receive honorary badges and acknowledgments from the Minister of Transport. The visit underscores the importance of the maritime industry to Lithuania.

Further engagements include the signing of a 2026-2028 action plan developed by a ministerial working group aimed at addressing road deterioration. Officials from the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration will demonstrate cargo transport control procedures. The Minister will also travel to Neringa to discuss plans for small port development and the condition of the Smiltynė-Nida regional road with Mayor Darius Jasaitis, before participating in the opening procession of the Sea Festival.
