Troops kill two suspected terrorists, rescue three kidnap victims in Benue

In Benue State, Nigeria, troops have successfully neutralized two suspected terrorists and liberated three individuals held captive. The operation, conducted by Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, spanned two days and focused on suspected terrorist enclaves in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. During the operation, troops engaged the suspects in a significant firefight, leading to the deaths of two terrorists and the rescue of the three kidnap victims. The rescued individuals, identified as a teacher, a spare parts dealer, and a farmer, all hail from the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The statement from OPWS indicated that other captives managed to escape during the exchange of gunfire. The military recovered a cache of weapons, including AK-47 and G3 rifles, a pistol, numerous magazines, and various types of ammunition. Military camouflage uniforms and a POS device were also seized. Major General Moses Gara, the Force Commander of OPWS, lauded the troops for their bravery and professional conduct. He reiterated the task force's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and other criminal elements within its operational jurisdiction. General Gara also extended his gratitude to other security agencies and local communities for their ongoing cooperation, which he stated is crucial for restoring peace and security to the region.
