Truck Fire Shuts Down German Autobahn A3 for Hours

The A3 highway near Seligenstadt in Germany experienced a significant closure lasting several hours due to a truck fire that began Monday evening. The incident, which concluded in the early morning hours, involved a collision between a truck and a car, leading to the truck's trailer catching fire.

Authorities report that the 58-year-old truck driver veered from the right to the left lane for reasons yet to be determined, colliding with a car driven by a 50-year-old woman. The impact caused the car to overturn multiple times and the truck's trailer to ignite. Firefighting efforts were described as complex due to the cargo, which included cosmetic products such as shaving foam cans that exploded from the heat.

The police estimate the property damage from the incident to be around 60,000 euros. Initial investigations suggest a possible medical emergency experienced by the truck driver may have contributed to the accident. Both the car driver and the truck driver were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
