The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has declared an end to the tsunami threat following a powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The agency confirmed that monitoring revealed no concerning tsunami wave heights, allowing coastal communities to resume normal activities.

Nelly Florida, Deputy for Geophysics at BMKG, announced the lifting of the tsunami warning during a press conference on Saturday morning. "With the end of the tsunami potential, residents around the coast can return to their normal activities," she stated. This includes the resumption of normal operations for fishermen, who can now return to sea with confidence.

Despite the lifted tsunami warning, BMKG continues to urge residents in the affected areas to remain cautious. The agency emphasized the ongoing risk of aftershocks, advising the public to stay alert and follow official BMKG updates. The main earthquake occurred at 4:58 AM Western Indonesian Time, with its epicenter located approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Mbay in Nagekeo Regency, at a depth of 15 kilometers.
