TUC chair commends DSS for arresting, prosecuting terrorists

Comrade Festus Osifo, chairman of Nigeria's Trade Union Congress (TUC), has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for its success in arresting and prosecuting suspected terrorists and bandits across the country. Osifo stated that these actions send a clear and strong message to criminal elements who have been terrorizing communities.

When they are arrested and prosecuted, the bad guys get the clear message.

Speaking in Abuja, Osifo asserted that the arrests and prosecutions demonstrate that "the bad guys get the clear message." He also voiced his support for the DSS leadership's stance that terrorists and bandits responsible for the loss of human lives should face the death penalty. Osifo believes such severe punishment could act as a deterrent to other criminal elements, signaling that "it is no longer business as usual."

Osifo urged the DSS to sustain the current tempo of arrests and prosecutions. He stressed that while citizens have a responsibility to hold the government accountable, they also have a duty to acknowledge positive actions. "When government does wrong things, we condemn them. When they do positive things, we are also duty bound to commend," he said.

When that is done, the other bad guys will know it is no longer business as usual.

The TUC chairman specifically commended DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi for ongoing reforms within the service. He encouraged Ajayi to intensify efforts to address the pervasive insecurity challenges plaguing the country.
