Turkey is in the Heart of Sudan: Sudanese Intellectual's Tribute to Turkish Support

Sıddık Hasan Turabi, son of the late Sudanese intellectual leader Hasan el-Turabi, emphasized that Turkey's substantial support for Sudan over the last two to three decades is profoundly valued and will remain indelible in the memory of the Sudanese people. He highlighted the extensive assistance provided, ranging from humanitarian aid to educational programs, including the establishment of Turkish schools and scholarship opportunities for Sudanese students to study in Turkey.

Turabi noted the significant presence of Turkish companies operating within Sudan, contributing to the nation's economy and development. He specifically pointed out that Turkish citizens were among the first foreigners to return to the capital, Khartoum, after the cessation of hostilities, demonstrating a commitment to the country's recovery. Furthermore, he recalled that Turkey was the first nation to provide humanitarian assistance following the recent conflict in Sudan, and continues to offer regular aid.

We cannot forget these. Multiple Turkish fairs have been organized in Sudan. Development projects have been carried out. Turkish Airlines is flying to Sudan again. We cannot count Turkey's support. For all these things we have told you, Turkey is in the heart of the Sudanese people. We are sincerely grateful for all the support provided to our country.

The resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to Sudan was also mentioned as a key indicator of Turkey's ongoing engagement and support. Turabi stated that the extent of Turkey's contributions is vast and difficult to fully enumerate. He concluded by affirming that due to all these efforts, "Turkey is in the heart of the Sudanese people," expressing sincere gratitude for the unwavering support provided to their nation.
