Two Dead, Child Critically Injured in Austrian Head-On Collision

A tragic head-on collision on Friday afternoon in Langenlois, Lower Austria, has claimed the lives of two individuals and left a young child with severe injuries. The accident, which occurred on the B 218, involved an 85-year-old man driving a car and a 62-year-old woman. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Compounding the tragedy, a five-year-old girl, identified as the granddaughter of the female driver, was critically injured. She was promptly airlifted by emergency helicopter to a hospital for urgent medical attention. Sadly, a dog traveling in the 85-year-old man's vehicle also perished in the crash.

Following the initial collision, a second vehicle became involved. The three occupants of this car – a 48-year-old woman, her 12-year-old son, and a 68-year-old companion – sustained lighter injuries and were transported to the hospital by ambulance services. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the B 218 was closed for several hours while authorities attended to the scene.
