Ugochukwu posts fastest morning time in 'Madring' tests

American driver Ugo Ugochukwu, currently second in the Formula 3 standings, dominated the morning testing session at the Madrid 'Madring' circuit on Tuesday. Driving for Campos Racing, Ugochukwu clocked the fastest lap of the session with a time of 1:49.034, significantly improving on the previous day's best time of 1:50.343.

Behind Ugochukwu, Japanese driver Yamakoshi of Van Amersfoort Racing secured the second-fastest time, followed by Frenchman Deligny, also from Van Amersfoort Racing, in third. Campos Racing's Mexican driver Rivera and MP Motorsport's Finnish driver Taponen completed the top five.

Local driver Bruno del Pino of Van Amersfoort Racing, who is ninth in the overall standings, finished sixth with a personal best of 1:49.559. The session was disrupted by four red flags, the last of which occurred with just over 20 minutes remaining when Yamakoshi made contact with the barriers at turn 11.

The Formula 3 tests commenced on Monday at the newly established 'Madring' circuit, which features 22 turns and spans 5.416 meters. This track will host the Spanish Grand Prix from September 11-13. The drivers are scheduled to resume action later in the day for the afternoon session, which concludes at 15:50.
