UN Rights Office: Israeli Ceasefire Violations Raise War Crime Concerns in Gaza

The UN Human Rights Office has issued a stark warning regarding the continued violence in Gaza, stating that "nine months after the announcement of a ceasefire, there remains no safe place for Palestinians in Gaza."

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israeli forces have killed over 1,100 Palestinians since the ceasefire began in October 2025. The UN has independently verified 685 deaths as of mid-April 2026, including 283 women and children. In just one week, from July 13 to July 20, at least 57 Palestinians were killed, including children and women, with many dying outside Israel's self-declared "buffer zone."

A global digital campaign, #TheyLiedToYou, launched on July 16, aims to refocus attention on the ongoing situation in Gaza. The campaign, active on X and Instagram, uses both English and Arabic hashtags to counter the narrative that the October 2025 ceasefire ended Israeli military operations. Palestinians are sharing live footage of ongoing bombings, starvation, and disease outbreaks to show that the crisis is escalating, not subsiding.

Gaza's government media office reported that Israel has committed 3,795 violations of the ceasefire agreement since October.
