University Students Between Academic Achievement, Literacy and Responsibility

University students are often described as an intellectual group with a strategic role in society. The label, however, carries responsibility as well as status. In a period of rapid technological and social change, students must pursue academic achievement while developing critical thinking, digital literacy, social awareness and the courage to contribute to their surroundings.

Digital technology has transformed how students learn, communicate and find information. Knowledge is now available through devices they carry with them, creating opportunities for independent study. But easy access also brings risks, because not every piece of information online can be trusted.

Digital literacy therefore means more than using social media or searching the internet. Students need to understand, assess, verify and use information responsibly. Artificial intelligence can support learning, the article says, by helping students broaden their knowledge, find references, process data and develop innovative ideas. It should not replace their ability to think.
