Vietnam Launches First Applied AI Lab in Partnership with Google

Vietnam is stepping onto the global stage of artificial intelligence innovation with the launch of the country's first Applied AI Lab, a collaborative effort between Google Labs and the Saigon AI Hub (SAIH). This groundbreaking initiative signifies a major leap forward in fostering AI development and application within Vietnam, providing a crucial bridge between local research capabilities and Google's cutting-edge AI technologies. The program has already selected ten research teams, comprising nearly 60 researchers from various Ho Chi Minh City universities. These teams are set to tackle critical AI challenges across diverse fields, including natural language processing, computer vision, human-robot interaction, medical applications, and information security. Their work is guided by stringent criteria emphasizing practical applicability, research competence, and a commitment to responsible AI development. A key outcome expected from these teams is the creation of at least one functional prototype and the dissemination of their findings through leading international conferences and journals, thereby elevating Vietnam's profile in the global AI research community.
