Vilius Gaubas Wins San Marino Challenger Quarterfinal

Lithuanian tennis player Vilius Gaubas has advanced to the semifinals of the ATP Challenger tournament in San Marino after a hard-fought victory over Brazil's Thiago Monteiro. Gaubas, currently ranked 128th in the ATP, secured his spot in the final four by winning 7:6 (9:7), 7:6 (7:5) in a match that lasted two hours and 30 minutes.

The first set saw both players holding their service games, with Gaubas ultimately prevailing in a tense tie-break. In the second set, Monteiro initially took a lead, going up 5:2. However, Gaubas mounted a strong comeback, winning three consecutive games to force another tie-break, which he again won to clinch the match.

In the first set, the players collected points during their service games, and in the tie-break, the Lithuanian was more accurate.

Gaubas's performance guarantees him 35 ATP points and a prize of 10,605 euros. He is scheduled to play against Argentina's Facundo Diaz Acosta, ranked 107th in the ATP, in the semifinals on Saturday evening. The tournament, played on clay courts, offers a total prize fund of 203,900 euros, with the winner receiving 125 ATP points and 30,460 euros.
