Weather Forecaster Promises Weather Changes: Spring Warmth to Flow in on Friday

The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service is forecasting a welcome change in our nation's weather patterns, signaling the end of a chilly spell and the arrival of much-anticipated spring warmth. As a departing cyclone relinquishes its grip, the latter half of the week promises a significant uptick in temperatures, with Friday expected to bring a delightful surge to as high as 17 degrees Celsius in some areas. This transition is particularly welcome after a period marked by persistent cold nights, frost, and brisk northwesterly winds that have kept many longing for milder conditions.

The wind will still blow from the northwest, 8–13 m/s. After clearing up and the wind subsiding, frost is expected in many places from minus 1–6 degrees Celsius, in some places, especially near the sea, the air temperature will remain slightly positive – 0–4 degrees Celsius.

While the early part of the week will continue to see temperatures hovering between 6-11 degrees Celsius during the day and dipping below freezing at night, accompanied by strong winds, the outlook is decidedly brighter. The forecast indicates a gradual warming trend starting Wednesday, with Thursday offering a slight increase before the full onset of spring warmth on Friday. This shift is attributed to the influence of a warm anticyclone, which will usher in clearer skies and calmer conditions, making it a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors.

In the country, light precipitation is predicted for Thursday, and it should also be a degree or two warmer.

The weekend is predicted to be equally pleasant, with sunny and calm weather prevailing. Although nighttime frosts may still occur, particularly on Saturday night, daytime temperatures are expected to climb further, reaching highs of 14-19 degrees Celsius in shaded areas.
