Williams Sisters Receive Wild Card for Cincinnati Open Doubles

Tennis powerhouses Serena and Venus Williams are set to make their doubles debut at the Cincinnati Open this month. The sisters were awarded a wild card entry, signaling their return to doubles action for the first time since their appearance at the 2022 U.S. Open.

Collectively, the Williams sisters boast an impressive record of 14 major doubles titles, including six Wimbledon championships, and three Olympic gold medals. Their last competitive doubles match together was at the 2022 U.S. Open, where they were defeated by Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic.

Earlier this year, the sisters had to withdraw from the Wimbledon doubles draw due to a knee injury sustained by Serena, 44. Serena's highly anticipated return to Grand Slam singles tennis after a four-year absence concluded at Wimbledon with a first-round loss to Australian newcomer Maya Joint.

Venus, 46, has also received a singles wild card for the Cincinnati tournament, which runs from August 11 to 23. This event will provide another platform for the legendary sisters to showcase their enduring talent on the court.
