Yayi meets Iyabo Obasanjo, Ishola, seeks support for Ogun governorship bid

In a strategic move ahead of the 2027 governorship election, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and the adopted consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, has initiated consultations with key party figures, including Senator Iyabo Obasanjo and former Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola. These meetings underscore Adeola's commitment to building a broad coalition of support within the party, following his designation as the consensus aspirant after a strategic caucus meeting.

Shortly after the party picked me as the consensus governorship candidate, my dear sister, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo issued a public statement aligning with the party and promised to work with me.

Adeola's visits to Obasanjo and Ishola, both former governorship aspirants, were marked by a tone of reconciliation and collaboration. He commended Obasanjo for her "maturity and magnanimity" in publicly endorsing his candidacy and expressed his desire to work closely with her and her team. Adeola emphasized that he was not seeking reconciliation but rather to forge a united front, assuring them that their contributions and blueprints for the state's development would be integrated into his administration's plans.
