Zelenskiy dismisses Ukraine’s ambassador to US

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has dismissed Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, in a move that had been anticipated for several weeks. The decree formalizing her departure was published recently. Stefanishyna had served in the post for nearly a year.

Her dismissal comes amid a broader reshuffling of top officials in Ukraine, which has recently seen changes in the prime minister and defense minister roles. A wider overhaul of Ukraine's diplomatic and ambassadorial appointments is also expected.

Writing on Facebook, Stefanishyna stated that the decision to leave her post was her own, driven by personal circumstances. She highlighted her accomplishments during her tenure, including boosting the supply of American weapons and maintaining support for Ukraine, particularly during a changing and challenging political climate in Washington. She also mentioned that Ukrainian media had reported on investigations into alleged irregularities in her asset declaration, a matter she indicated she would address.
