10-story hospital to be built in Huaraz: Modern facility will feature emergency and hemodialysis areas

A significant development is on the horizon for the Áncash region as EsSalud, Peru's social health insurance entity, has given the green light for the construction of a modern, 10-story hospital in Huaraz. This much-anticipated project, approved after a thorough viability assessment, promises to substantially strengthen medical services for thousands of insured citizens in the region. The new hospital is designed to be a state-of-the-art facility, featuring specialized areas such as emergency care and hemodialysis, alongside comprehensive outpatient services. This initiative is a key component of EsSalud's national strategy to bridge existing infrastructure gaps within the healthcare system, ensuring more equitable access to quality medical attention. The approval process, which began in December 2025, culminated in the recent endorsement of Technical Report No. 000023-LPR-SGEPI-GEI-CGPI-ESSALUD-2026, paving the way for the construction to commence. Officials, including the Director of the Huaraz Assistential Network, Cleyman Viera Meza, have emphasized that the new infrastructure will not only modernize medical equipment but also facilitate more efficient and humane patient care. The project also benefits from the support of the Executive President of EsSalud, Luis Rosales Pereda, and the dedication of the technical teams involved, as well as recognition from local associations and unions.
