Pak, a senior official in the Workers' Party of Korea, arrived in Beijing on Friday for a three-day trip. In an unusual move, the Communist Party's official newspaper, People's Daily, published an article early Friday commending North Korea's economic achievements. The publication lauded important construction projects for "infusing socialist construction with robust vitality."

The article specifically highlighted Pyongyang's efforts in addressing housing shortages, noting the completion of 50,000 housing units in the capital over the last five years and approximately 32,000 new homes in rural areas in 2025. It also acknowledged advancements in rural food production and the large-scale development of industrial factories, hospitals, and service facilities across the country.
