Edo ADC disowns ex-chairman Odion, warns against unauthorized statements

The Edo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially distanced itself from the actions of its former chairman, Kennedy Odion. The party issued a strong warning against Odion, cautioning him against making any unauthorized statements or convening meetings under the ADC's banner.

According to Tony Alile, the state chairman of the ADC, Odion's term officially concluded on May 19, 2026. Furthermore, Alile stated that Odion was among the members expelled during the party's National Convention held in Abuja earlier this year on April 14, 2026. The party emphasized that Odion is no longer recognized as an official and should cease using the party's name or materials.

They are dwelling in the highest form of self-deceit. They should calm down, retrace their steps and see how they can be incorporated back into the party.

Despite the party's stance, Odion has reportedly continued to issue statements and organize gatherings in the name of the ADC. The party considers these actions unauthorized and misleading, noting that previous incidents involving the misuse of party facilities are being addressed through appropriate channels. The ADC affirmed its commitment to strengthening democratic opposition and providing credible leadership in Edo State and Nigeria.

However, Kennedy Odion vehemently rejected the party's claims, describing their position as "the highest form of self-deceit." He accused the leadership of acting out of frustration and suggested that the documents presented could constitute contempt of court. Odion maintained that, legally, he remains the chairman of the party in the state, and any other claims to the position are illegitimate.
