Electric motorcycle priced like a smartphone launches in Malaysia, offering 120km range per charge

Malaysia is witnessing a growing trend towards greener transportation with the launch of affordable electric vehicles like the EZI Ray 01. This new electric motorcycle, priced at just 2,288 RM (around $4,600 USD) during its promotional period, is making waves in the urban mobility sector.

Positioned as a budget-friendly option, the EZI Ray 01 aims to attract city dwellers seeking an economical and environmentally conscious mode of transport. Its price point, comparable to a high-end Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, makes it an exceptionally accessible entry into the electric vehicle market.

Beyond its affordability, the EZI Ray 01 boasts several user-friendly features. These include multiple riding modes, a convenient USB Type-A charging port, NFC keyless ignition, and a full LED lighting system. The bike also features a digital LED display for essential information.

With a 2 kW electric motor and a 72V-32Ah lead-acid battery, the EZI Ray 01 can achieve a top speed of 68 km/h. Its claimed range is up to 120 km when ridden at a more modest speed of 25 km/h, making it suitable for daily commutes. The motorcycle is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels and a comfortable 735mm seat height, weighing in at 130kg. The manufacturer offers a 2-year or 20,000km warranty against defects, underscoring their commitment to quality.
