Gunmen abduct farm manager in Ondo

Ondo State has once again been plunged into fear following a brazen abduction in the Imafon community, Akure North Local Government Area. Afolabi Ajayi, a farm manager, became the latest victim of escalating insecurity when gunmen ambushed him on Monday morning as he arrived at the poultry farm where he works.

He (victim) came to the poultry farm this morning to check on the workers and how the farm was being run, but the gunmen rushed out from the bush and took him to an unknown destination in the forest.

The attack, which occurred around 10:30 AM, saw the assailants emerge from the bush and force Ajayi into an unknown destination in the forest. A family source revealed that as of the time of reporting, the kidnappers had not made any contact, leaving the family in agonizing uncertainty regarding ransom demands. This incident adds to a growing list of security breaches in the region, highlighting the persistent challenges faced by residents and authorities alike.

The command has been notified of a kidnapping incident at Ilado, where a farmer was abducted while working on his farm.

In response, the Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that immediate action has been taken. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer, assured the public that additional security forces, including tactical teams, are actively combing the surrounding bush. The primary objective is the safe rescue of Mr. Ajayi and the swift apprehension of those responsible. The command emphasized that all operational strategies are being employed, with the victim's safety as the utmost priority. This incident follows closely on the heels of a mass kidnapping in Kogi State, underscoring the pervasive nature of banditry and its devastating impact on communities across Nigeria.
