High pressure brings sunny, calm weather to Poland; heat to return soon

A large high-pressure system is settling over Poland, promising sunny skies and stable weather conditions across the country. This atmospheric setup will bring pleasant temperatures, with thermometers expected to climb close to 30 degrees Celsius in the warmest areas by Thursday and Friday.

According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW), while low-pressure systems influence western and eastern Europe, Poland remains under the influence of a stable high centered over Lithuania and Szczecin. Polar maritime air mass is flowing in, bringing slightly cooler conditions to the north and east.

Thursday is forecast to be warm and sunny, with clear skies in the west and variable cloud cover elsewhere. Maximum temperatures will range from approximately 20 degrees Celsius by the sea, in Suwałki, and in Podhale, to 23 degrees Celsius in the center, and up to 27 degrees Celsius in western Poland. Winds will be light, with some moderate easterly breezes in the southeast.

Overnight temperatures on Thursday into Friday will be cool, dropping to around 8 degrees Celsius in the east and southeast, 11 degrees Celsius in the center, and up to 15 degrees Celsius along the coast. Friday will continue the trend of clear skies and sunshine, with maximum temperatures reaching 23 degrees Celsius in the east and south, 26 degrees Celsius in the center and north, and peaking at 29-30 degrees Celsius in the far west.

The weekend, however, will see a return of heat. Saturday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies and a significant temperature increase, with highs reaching up to 36 degrees Celsius in western Poland, while remaining around 30 degrees Celsius in the center and 25 degrees Celsius in Suwałki.
