Ho Chi Minh City Resolves 838 Backlog Projects, Continues Review for More

Ho Chi Minh City's leadership, under Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc, has announced significant progress in tackling stalled projects, with 838 backlog projects, representing over 206 trillion VND (approximately $8.1 billion USD) in investment, having their issues fundamentally resolved. This marks a substantial effort to clear bureaucratic hurdles and unblock development.

While the city reports a 100% resolution rate for the identified backlog, the reality on the ground shows varying degrees of completion. Of the 838 projects, 417 have had all their impediments removed, while 393 have seen the majority of issues addressed. Another 28 projects have received directives and are in the process of resolution, leaving 421 projects that are either partially resolved or still actively undergoing the resolution process as per city directives.

Looking ahead, the city plans to launch new initiatives to tackle ongoing project backlogs, drawing from central government guidance. This includes implementing a new plan to address stalled projects, informed by the Politburo's Conclusion 24 and the National Assembly's Resolution 29. These directives aim to provide mechanisms for resolving legal issues related to land use that arose before the 2024 Land Law came into effect, focusing on both violations and other complexities.

This proactive approach by Ho Chi Minh City's administration is crucial for its economic development. By clearing these long-standing issues, the city aims to stimulate investment, facilitate construction, and improve the urban landscape, demonstrating a commitment to efficient governance and economic growth.
