Zila Bakarin says she never viewed the cash she won as her own. The Malaysian actress and Kilauan Emas Selebriti contestant said she had intended from the beginning to donate the money.

Bakarin, 51, won the program’s Emas Berkilau Of The Week recognition for a second time. She said participants had been told that the cash was meant for a contribution, not personal use.

“From the beginning, we were told that the money was for a donation, which is why I set that intention,” she wrote in a post on Threads. She said she was responding to questions from internet users about how the prize money would be distributed.

Bakarin said she was acting on behalf of the people who voted for her by passing the contribution to veteran singer Mariam Ahmad, who is experiencing health problems. “I am representing them to deliver the contribution. Thank you to everyone who voted,” she said.
