Indonesian Ulema Congress Recommends Special Task Force for Corruption Probe

The Indonesian Ulema Council's (MUI) Congress has recommended the establishment of a special task force to investigate alleged corruption charges against the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The council views this step as crucial for ensuring the investigation proceeds transparently and upholds public confidence in the nation's law enforcement.

The recommendation was formally presented during the closing session of the 8th Indonesian Ulema Congress (KUII VIII) in Jakarta. Commission D, which focuses on politics, law, defense, security, and national development, specifically called on the government to create this task force. "Resolved transparently, with integrity, to maintain public trust in the law in Indonesia," stated Ihsan Tanjung, Deputy Secretary General of MUI for Law and a representative of Commission D, when reading the recommendation.

This case has garnered significant public attention due to the high-ranking position of the official involved, who was previously known for handling major corruption cases. Various civil society groups have urged for an independent, professional, and open legal process. Commission D believes that a dedicated task force would enhance accountability and prevent public doubt regarding the Indonesian legal system's integrity.

In addition to the Adriansyah case, Commission D put forth other recommendations in the areas of politics, law, defense, security, and national development, intended to guide the government in improving state governance.
