Lithuanian Swimmers Vie for Medals at European Championships in Paris

Lithuanian swimmers are making their mark at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, with a contingent of seven athletes and a mixed relay team set to compete on the second day of the event.

Tuesday's morning session saw several Lithuanian competitors take to the pool. Barbora Mileišytė was among the first, participating in the 50-meter butterfly event. Although she did not qualify for the semifinals, missing the mark by just 0.25 seconds, her performance was notable as she holds the Lithuanian record in the mixed medley relay.

The Lithuanian team features a strong lineup of 19 swimmers, including seven Olympians. Among them are notable names such as Rūta Meilutytė, Danas Rapšys, and Andrius Šidlauskas. The team is looking to replicate and surpass its medal-winning performance from the 2024 European Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia.

At the previous championship, the Lithuanian men's 4x200m freestyle relay team secured a gold medal. Danas Rapšys earned a silver in the 200m freestyle, and Andrius Šidlauskas added a bronze in the 100m breaststroke. The team's schedule for Tuesday includes various freestyle, backstroke, and medley relay events.
