Malaysia: Government vows no compromise on Tabung Haji mismanagement

Malaysia's government has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of power abuse, misconduct, or mismanagement that could jeopardize the interests of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) depositors. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), emphasized the administration's adherence to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree for comprehensive and uncompromising investigations into findings from a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI). The King's concern underscores the paramount importance of safeguarding the trust Muslims place in the nation's Hajj management and Islamic finance institutions. "Strict and fair actions based on legal principles must be taken against any individual or entity found guilty of breaching trust and governance principles," Dr. Zulkifli stated in a press release. He further elaborated that every enforcement step and improvement recommended by the RCI report will be meticulously detailed to elevate TH's governance structure to the highest standard. This commitment, he added, is significant not only for upholding justice and accountability but also for preventing past mistakes from recurring. The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) is determined to ensure TH continues to be a robust, ethical, and fully trusted institution for all Malaysians.
