Sisters found dead in Uruguay home; fratricide, suicide suspected

Authorities in Chuy, Uruguay, are investigating the violent deaths of two sisters found dead in their home on Saturday afternoon. The primary hypothesis being considered by police is that one sister killed the other before committing suicide.

The women, both estimated to be in their 60s, were discovered by police who entered their residence located between Samuel Priliac and Mauro Silva streets, a few blocks from the International Avenue. One sister was found in the bedroom, while the other was located in the kitchen.

Investigators found a "bladed weapon" near the sister in the kitchen, leading to the presumption that she was the perpetrator of the fratricide and subsequently took her own life. At this time, there are no indications of a third person's presence at the crime scene. The case has been handed over to the Prosecutor's Office for further investigation.

Separately, in Montevideo's Paso de la Arena neighborhood, a 28-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Friday. Police responded to a report of a stabbing and transported the victim to a medical center, where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary reports suggest the victim had an argument with a neighbor in a local boarding house, leading to the fatal attack. The alleged assailant is currently at large.
