Police foil truck hijack in Ogun, hunt fleeing suspects

In a swift and decisive operation, the Ogun State Police Command has successfully thwarted a truck hijacking incident, demonstrating their commitment to securing the state's roadways. Detectives from the Ijebu Imushin Division, in collaboration with highway patrol operatives, responded promptly to a distress call early Wednesday morning.

Upon receipt of the report, detectives, in collaboration with highway patrol operatives, swiftly mobilised to the scene, forcing the suspects to abandon the truck and flee under pressure.

The incident occurred in the Oke-Ado area of Ijebu East Local Government, where hoodlums accosted a driver conveying motor spare parts and attempted to hijack his DAF truck. However, the rapid response of the police forced the suspects to abandon their criminal endeavor and flee under pressure, allowing for the safe recovery of the truck and its contents.

The prompt intervention of the police effectively thwarted the criminal operation and prevented the loss of property.

During a thorough search of the recovered vehicle, officers discovered a crudely made wooden-fabricated rifle, wrapped in black tape, which the suspects allegedly used during the attempted hijacking. The police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, aiming to bring them to justice. The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reassured the public of the command's dedication to ensuring the safety of all road users.
