PPA and BNPB send two tonnes of aid to earthquake victims in East Nusa Tenggara

Two tonnes of aid have been sent to earthquake victims in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province through a collaboration between state asset management company PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset and the National Disaster Management Agency.

The first shipment, delivered on Aug. 19 to the BNPB logistics reception post at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, weighed one tonne and contained 196 packages of basic food. The supplies included instant noodles, rice, corned beef and sardines.

A second one-tonne shipment followed on Aug. 22, with PPA working alongside the Hasanuddin University Engineering Alumni Association. It included rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, eggs, UHT milk, milk and drinking water. The shipment also provided electricity support and rations for volunteers working in the field.

We moved quickly to respond to the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara because the basic needs of affected communities cannot wait.

PPA president director M. Teguh Wirahadikusumah said the company moved quickly because affected communities could not wait for basic necessities. He said coordination with BNPB and the alumni association helped deliver the aid effectively and directly to those who needed it.

The deliveries formed part of PPA’s August corporate social and environmental responsibility program, marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day. The wider program covered health, education, disaster response and social and cultural preservation across several regions, with employees participating as volunteers.
