Rūdninkai military training ground road repair tender ends in fiasco

A critical infrastructure project at the Rūdninkai military training ground has hit a significant snag, as reported by Delfi. A tender aimed at assessing the quality of a concrete road, laid by the company "Fegda," has ended in failure, leaving the future of the road in limbo.

The purpose of the tender was to find an expert firm that could evaluate the existing road and recommend whether it should undergo repairs or be entirely reconstructed. This assessment is crucial, given the concerns about the quality of the initial construction. The Rūdninkai military polygon is a key facility, and its infrastructure must be reliable.

However, the tender process has "experienced a fiasco," according to Delfi's findings, meaning no company was chosen to perform the vital expertise. This failure raises questions about the procurement process and the ability to address the substandard construction. For Lithuania, ensuring the quality of infrastructure, especially for military purposes, is of utmost importance for national security and operational readiness.

The lack of a selected expert means a delay in resolving the issue with the Rūdninkai road. It leaves the Ministry of National Defence or the responsible procurement body in a difficult position, needing to reconsider how to proceed.
