Selangor Government to Brief Sultan on Investigation into Insulting Social Media Post

In Selangor, a deep sense of concern and condemnation has arisen following a deeply offensive social media post targeting His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The state government, led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has affirmed its commitment to addressing this insult to the Malay Rulers, who are the bedrock of our nation's unity and the protectors of Islam as the official religion.

Kerajaan negeri akan menyembah maklum kepada Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah berkenaan perkembangan terkini siasatan terhadap pelaku yang memuat naik hantaran gambar menghina baginda.

The offensive image, which appeared on Facebook, depicted a pig in royal regalia, a clear and malicious attempt to denigrate the Sultan. This act of disrespect occurred amidst ongoing discussions regarding pig farming in Selangor, a sensitive issue that has unfortunately been politicized. The state government has unequivocally condemned the irresponsible use of social media that incites disharmony and disrespects our revered institutions.

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been in close communication with the Minister of Communications, Datuk Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil, to ensure swift and decisive action is taken by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working closely with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to track down the individual responsible for posting and subsequently deleting the offending content. The state government will provide a comprehensive update to the Sultan on the progress of the investigation.
