UBSI Karawang Student Selected for Prestigious Google Student Ambassador Program 2024

In a remarkable achievement that underscores the burgeoning tech talent in Indonesia, Alin Tamaya, a student from Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) campus Karawang, has successfully secured a spot in the prestigious Google Student Ambassador (GSA) 2024 program. This selection places her among an elite group of 2,000 students chosen from a staggering pool of over 81,000 applicants across the archipelago, reflecting the intense competition and the high caliber of participants.

In the Gemini Challenge stage, I had to formulate an idea relevant to technology and present it clearly within a limited time. That was quite challenging.

The GSA program, spearheaded by Google, is designed to cultivate leadership and technological prowess among university students. Ambassadors serve as campus representatives, tasked with fostering digital communities, disseminating knowledge, and initiating tech-centric activities. Alin's journey through the rigorous selection process, which spanned from February to April 2024 and included stages like a self-recorded interview and the challenging Gemini Challenge, demonstrates her dedication and capabilities. She identified the Gemini Challenge, which required her to articulate a relevant tech idea concisely within a limited timeframe, as her most demanding trial.

In addition to understanding the technology, I also practiced how to present ideas in a more structured and easily understandable way.

This accomplishment not only highlights Alin's individual merit but also brings significant recognition to UBSI Karawang. Mohammad Syamsul Azis, Head of the UBSI Karawang campus, praised Alin's success as proof of the substantial opportunities available for Indonesian students to compete on a national level. He emphasized the importance of digital skills and communication abilities, urging continuous development in these areas. Dede Firmansyah Saefudin, Head of the Accounting Information Systems program, added that such experiences provide invaluable exposure, deepening students' understanding of the tech ecosystem and fostering cross-campus collaboration.
