UMNO Selangor defends Sultan's decree

UMNO Selangor stands firm in its defense of the Sultan of Selangor's decree, which prohibits the establishment of pig farms within the state. The party has unequivocally condemned actions that distort or disrespect the Sultan's pronouncements, viewing such behavior as a grave insult to the Selangor Sultanate and the Malay monarchy as a whole.

We remain consistent in upholding and defending the Selangor Sultanate from any form of insult, slander, provocation or attempts to belittle the dignity of the Sultan of Selangor.

Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, Chairman of the UMNO Selangor Liaison Body, stated that the party remains consistent in upholding and defending the Selangor Sultanate against any form of insult, slander, provocation, or attempts to belittle the Sultan's dignity. He stressed that all parties should respect and understand the position and role of the Sultan of Selangor as enshrined in the state's constitution and laws, without attempting to politicize or create negative perceptions surrounding His Highness's statements.

Megat Zulkarnain further emphasized that the decrees, advice, and warnings from the Sultan of Selangor are always in line with the spirit of constitutional monarchy and His Highness's role as head of state, prioritizing the people's welfare and the state's stability. This aligns with the recent clarification from the Dewan di-Raja Selangor (Royal Council of Selangor) which refuted claims of political interest in the Sultan's statements or advice to the state government.

All parties should respect and understand the position and role of the Sultan of Selangor according to the provisions of the Constitution and the State Government's Law, without trying to politicize or create negative perceptions of His Highness's decree and views.

In a challenging political climate, UMNO Selangor calls for greater maturity, prudence, and responsibility from all parties when issuing statements concerning the royal institution. The party urges against using matters involving the Sultan of Selangor as fodder for narrow political polemics. Instead, the primary focus should be on addressing the people's issues, strengthening state stability, and ensuring effective governance, in line with the practice of constitutional monarchy in Malaysia.
