UniAbuja Law Student Wins West African Speech Contest in Sierra Leone

Amra Salihu, a final-year law student at the University of Abuja, has brought regional recognition to Nigeria by winning the prestigious 9th Inter-Universities Speech Contest. The competition, organized by the Intergovernmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA), took place in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Our students from the Faculty of Law have once again made the university proud. I congratulate them on this great achievement.

Salihu's victory was the culmination of a rigorous national selection process, where she emerged as Nigeria's representative after competing against peers nationwide. Her success at the regional level saw her outperform contestants from The Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ghana, securing the top title.

Her triumph earned her a winner's plaque, a certificate of honor, and a cash prize of $1,000 USD. Another student from the University of Abuja's Faculty of Law, Abah Goodness, attended the event as an observer. The team received coaching from Dr. Nasiru Mukhtar, Director of the Law Clinic, and technical guidance from Mr. J R Gogol of the NFIU.
