Madinah, Saudi Arabia – The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenhaj) has issued a stern reminder to all Hajj Guidance Groups (KBIHU) to maintain order and actively coordinate with official government personnel following an incident involving Indonesian pilgrims in Madinah. A bus accident on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026, resulted in minor injuries to several pilgrims from the SUB-02 and JKS-01 flight groups, as well as one KBIHU official.

Moh. Hasan Afandi, Head of the Public Relations Bureau at Kemenhaj, emphasized the critical importance of KBIHUs adhering to regulations and prioritizing the safety and well-being of the pilgrims above all else. "All KBIHUs are obliged to coordinate with officials, comply with applicable provisions, and prioritize the safety of pilgrims in every activity," Afandi stated in a press release to the Media Center Haji (MCH).

This directive comes as Kemenhaj seeks to ensure that all Hajj activities proceed smoothly and safely, focusing solely on the spiritual journey of the pilgrims. Afandi explicitly warned against any activities that fall outside the scope of religious pilgrimage, including unauthorized additional charges or offerings. "We emphasize that there must be no offers outside of the interests of worship, no additional charges, and all activities must be coordinated with official personnel. If violated, we will not hesitate to impose strict sanctions up to revocation of permits," he asserted.

The government has facilitated organized ziyarah (pilgrimage) to key Islamic sites in Madinah, such as the Quba Mosque, the Qiblatain Mosque, and Uhud Mountain, all conducted under the supervision of designated officials. This incident serves as a critical reminder for all stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the Hajj services and ensure a safe and meaningful experience for every Indonesian pilgrim.
