Meilutis Nominated for Second Term as Head of Lithuanian Court of Appeal

The Lithuanian Court of Appeal is poised to continue under the leadership of Nerijus Meilutis, who has been nominated for a second consecutive term. This nomination, pending parliamentary approval, reflects a strong internal endorsement of his first term, which began in June 2021.

An anonymous survey conducted among the court's employees revealed significant support for Meilutis. A substantial majority of respondents backed his reappointment, highlighting his experience, diligence, and professionalism as key reasons for their confidence. This internal consensus is a powerful indicator of his effectiveness and the positive reception of his leadership within the institution.

Meilutis himself has expressed a commitment to further enhancing the court's internal administration and contributing to the overall efficiency of Lithuania's judicial system. Despite acknowledging hearing some critical remarks about himself, he appears motivated to build on his previous term's work. The selection committee's report also noted his motivated, decisive, and confident demeanor during his interview, deeming him a suitable candidate for the role.
